The Inspiration
Artist/Creator: Julien Le Roy, Paris
Date of Creation: 18th century
This 18th century Louis XV-style gilt bronze mantel clock displays a pastoral theme, with porcelain figures of two lovers below, and a maiden above the clock face. Vines and flowers surround the clock, which is part of a three-piece mantel garniture set, with two matching candelabra.
The Flowers
Florist’s inspiration: I was immediately drawn to the clock in the French Drawing Room. The dainty lovely blooms twirling and vining around the clock and framing the scene of the couple being in love, who have eyes only for each other. As if the time did not exist (or stopped). What a perfect theme for a clock! I was inspired by the peaceful mood the scene invokes and the tiny blooms popping here and there and created this centerpiece. I hope you enjoy both the beautiful clock and my floral creation.
